The Cambrian Line
The Cambrian Line runs cross-country from
Shrewsbury through a varied rural landscape, beginning in the gentle,
rolling borderlands around Welshpool and Newtown before entering the
wilder uplands of farms and forest in the Cambrian Mountains.
At Machynlleth, it connects with another beautiful line, the Cambrian Coast, which links Machynlleth with Pwllheli.
You'll be spoilt for choice for places to visit along the journey.
There are family attractions galore such as the Centre for Alternative
Technology and King Arthur's Labyrinth in Machynlleth.
Animal lovers will enjoy a visit to Borth Animalarium or Arthog Bog
Nature Reserve in Morfa Mawddach. If you are interested in history there's a
wealth of castles to visit - in Shrewsbury, Harlech and Criccieth, for
example.
So try the Cambrian Line - smaller railways to take you closer to the spectacular scenery.
