• Concessionary Travel

    The Welsh Government Concessionary Travel scheme will change on the 1st April 2014 when the Heart of Wales and the Cambrian Line schemes end for the summer period.

    From 1st April 2014, any passenger holding a concessionary travel pass issued by any of the Welsh Local Authority’s may travel under the concessionary scheme. The requirement to hold a Concessionary pass issued by the local authority in the area of operation has been removed.

    The following will continue to run throughout the summer period.

    Conwy Valley Line
    Wrexham – Hawarden Bridge

    Conwy Valley Line

    This scheme is available to all holders of a Concessionary Travel Pass issued by any Welsh Local Authority. Pass holders will be eligible for free travel on all ATW services between Conwy Valley line between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llandudno and on all ATW services between Llandudno Junction and Llandudno.  This period commences from 1 April 2014 until further notice.

    Travel is permitted on the following stations:

    • Llandudno
    • Deganwy
    • Llandudno Junction
    • Glan Conwy
    • Tal-y-Cafn
    • Dalgarrog
    • North Llanrwst
    • Betws-y-Coed
    • Pont-y-Pant
    • Dolwyddelan
    • Roman Bridge
    • Blaenau Ffestiniog

    Lime Strip 
     

    Wrexham to Hawarden Bridge

    This scheme is available to all holders of a Concessionary Travel Pass issued by any Welsh Local Authority. Free travel is permitted between the stations listed below. Please be aware that concessionary travel is not allowed on the 0731 Bidston to Wrexham service between Hawarden Bridge and Wrexham. This period commences from 1 April 2014 until further notice.

    Travel is permitted on the following stations:

    • Shotton
    • Hawarden
    • Buckley
    • Penyffordd
    • Hope
    • Caergwrie
    • Cefn-y-Bedd
    • Gwersyllt
    • Wrexham General
    • Wrexham Central

    Cambrian Coast

    Unlimited travel is permitted between the stations listed below from 1 October 2013 to 31 March 2014 for holders of the Gwynedd bus pass.  

    Please note: During school terms there will be some restriction of travel on some trains.
    06.10 Pwllheli – Machynlleth between Barmouth and Tywyn
    07.34 Pwllheli – Machynlleth between Penrhynddeudraeth and Harlech.
    12.56 Machynlleth – Pwllheli between Harlech and Penrhynddeudraeth
    14.56 Machynlleth – Pwllheli between Tywyn and Barmouth

    Travel is permitted on the following stations:

    Heart of Wales Line 

    Unlimited travel is permitted between the stations listed below from 1 October 2013 to 31 March 2014. This scheme is available to holders of a Concessionary Travel Pass from the county of Powys and Carmarthenshire Councils. Holders of Swansea Local Authority issued passes boarding the Heart of Wales services at Pontardulais or any other station on the line of route are not entitled to free travel and are to be charged the correct fare for the journey being made..
