• Marches Line

Take the train into the heart of this unspoilt borderland with its big river valleys, tumbling streams and rolling upland. Walking in the valleys of the Severn, Onny, Teme and Wye is also a popular pastime, and you can use the connecting bus network to explore even further afield.

The Shropshire and Herefordshire Marches are one of the few remaining truly peaceful backwaters of Britain. As well as the spectacular scenery, the area offers historic county towns such as Shrewsbury and Hereford to explore at leisure, together with stops such as Church Stretton, Craven Arms, Leominster and Ludlow, all of them steeped in history and places to visit.

And there are attractions to suit all tastes along the line, including Hereford Cider Museum, Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Ludlow Castle, Stokesay Castle and much more.

  • Folk Down The Track 2011 IMGFolk Down The Track
Hop on the train and travel down the track to hear excellent folk music at two fantastic venues in the Marches.

The aim of Folk Down The Track is to have a good night out on the Heart of Wales or Marches railway lines using local community pubs and venues. It is part of a wider slow travel movement that is spreading throughout Europe. There is no charge for the folk evening but we do ask that people make a donation so we can pay the bands!
