    Things you need to know

     

    The Explore Wales Pass

     

    1. You can travel by train after 0915 Mondays to Fridays, or at any time on the following routes:-

    - Heart of Wales Line trains only, between Swansea, Llandrindod and Shrewsbury
    - Services between Fishguard Harbour, Milford Haven, Pembroke Dock and Carmarthen
    - Services between Aberystwyth, Machynlleth and Pwllheli
    - Services between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog
    - Services between Wrexham Central and Bidston

    2. You can travel by train at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays

    3. There are no time of day restrictions for travel by bus

    4. Each Explore Wales Pass allows four days train and eight days bus travel within a period of eight consecutive days

    5. All other discounts to tourist attractions, accommodation etc are only available during the validity of the Explore Wales Pass.

    6. Please refer to the public transport map for details of mainline rail routes on which you can use your ticket.

     7. Services of the following bus operators are included in the price of Explore Wales Passes.  Please check with Traveline Cymru for details of the operators' complete network of services and timetables

    The Explore Wales Pass is also valid on the following Express Bus Services: 

    • T2 - Bangor to Caernarfon and Aberystwyth (operated by Express Motors and Lloyds Motors)
    • T4 - Newtown to Brecon, Merthyr and Cardiff (operated by Stagecoach)
    • 'Cymru Express' Service 20 Cardiff to Carmarthen
    • Service 40 Carmarthen to Lampeter and Aberystwyth (operated by Arriva Cymru)
    • Service 50 Aberystwyth to Aberaeron and New Quay (operated by Arriva Cymru).

    8. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    9. If you are planning to travel by train at busy times such as holidays and Friday evenings we recommend that you make a seat reservation.

    10. If you intend to travel with a bike please be advised that cycles will not be conveyed on some busy trains and many trains require cycle reservations in advance. Bikes cannot usually be conveyed by bus. Please enquire at booking offices or from the conductor for details.

    11. Refunds will not be made unless the Pass is returned to the issuing office before the first permitted date of travel.

    12. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013


    Other regional passes* available from Arriva Trains Wales

    Cambrian Coaster Rangers

    1. The Cambrian Coaster Day Ranger - You can travel by train after 0900 Monday to Fridays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

    2. The Cambrian Coaster Evening Ranger - You can travel by train after 1815 Monday to Sunday.

    3. The Cambrian Coaster Day Ranger - Family can have up to two adults and two children in the party

    4. The Cambrian Coaster Evening Ranger - Family must be a minimum of one adult and one child in the party.

    5. Each Cambrian Coaster Rangers allows one day train travel.

    6. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    7. Discounts are available with the following railcards: Senior Railcard, Disabled Railcard, 16-25 Railcard.

    8. The Cambrian Coaster Rangers are valid on the routes shown on the Cambrian Coaster Ranger Map.

    9. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.


    Ffestiniog Round Robin

    1. A return journey on the Ffestiniog Railway is not permitted with this ticket.

    2. Each Ffestiniog Round Robin allows one day train travel.

    3. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    4. Discounts are available with the following railcards: Senior Railcard, Disabled Railcard, 16-25 Railcard.

    5. The Ffestiniog Round Robin Ticket is valid on the routes shown on the Ffestiniog Round Robin Ticket Map.

    6. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.


    Heart of Wales Circular Day Ranger

    1. You can travel by train anytime Monday to Fridays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

    2. At least one part of your journey must be made up or down the Heart of Wales Line (between Swansea and Shrewsbury via Llandrindod Wells).

    3. Each Heart of Wales Circular Day Ranger allows one day train travel.

    4. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    5. Discounts are available with the following railcards: Senior Railcard, Disabled Railcard, 16-25 Railcard.

    7. The Heart of Wales Circular Ranger is valid on routes shown on the Heart of Wales Map  

    8. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.


    North Wales Rover

    1. You can travel by train anytime Monday to Fridays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays in North Wales.

    2. Services of the following bus operators are included in the price of North Wales Rover.  Please check with Traveline Cymru for details of the operators' complete network of services.

    3. Each North Wales Rover allows one day train and one day bus travel.

    4. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    5. Discounts are available with the following railcards: Senior Railcard, Disabled Railcard, 16-25 Railcard.

    6. The North Wales Rover is valid on routes shown on the  North Wales Rover Map. 

    7. It is also valid (subject to the correct zone being purchased), to/from Chester City Centre, Chester Station, Chester Business Park, Ellesmere Port (bus services 100 and 111 only), Machynlleth and Aberystwyth (bus services 28, 32, X32 and train)

    8. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.


    Valley Lines Day Explorer and Night Rider

     1. Valley Lines Day Explorer - You can travel by bus or train after 0915 Monday to Fridays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

    2. Valley Lines Night Rider - You can travel by train after 1830 Monday to Sunday only.

    3. Services of the following bus operators are included in the price of Valley Lines Day Explorer.  Please check with Traveline Cymru for details of the operators' complete network of services.

    Stagecoach: Services in South East Wales
    Rhondda Buses operated by Thomas Coaches

    4. Each Valley Lines Day Explorer allows one day train travel and one day bus travel. The Night Rider allows one evening train travel.

     5. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    6. Railcard discounts are not available.

    7. The Valley lines Day Explorer and Night Rider is valid on the routes shown on the  Valley Lines Day Explorer and Night Rider Map  

    8. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.


    West Wales Day Ranger

     1. West Wales Day Ranger - You can travel by bus or train after 0845 Monday to Fridays, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

     2. Each West Wales Day Ranger allows one day train travel between Carmarthen, Fishguard Harbour, Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock

    3. Travel must be completed by midnight on each day of travel.

    4. Discounts are available with the following railcards: Senior Railcard, Disabled Railcard, 16-25 Railcard.

    5. The West Wales Day Ranger is valid on the routes shown on the West Wales Day Ranger Map   

    6. Prices are valid until 31 December 2013.

    *Please note that these six regional passes do not include the Travel Pack containing vouchers for discounted entry to visitor attractions and accommodation.  The Travel Pack is only avalable with the All Wales Explore Wales Pass, The North & Mid Wales Explore Wales Pass and South Wales Explore Wales Pass.
