    At times it is unavoidable that Network Rail infrastructure improvement works may affect some of our services, meaning alterations to the scheduled timetables. Arriva Trains Wales and Network Rail apologise for any inconvenience that these temporary alterations may cause.

    We advise passengers intending to travel to enquire before starting their journey for full details of altered trains, onward connections and additional road transport. Details of alterations can be obtained below or from your local staffed booking office.

    For details on Planned Service Alterations and changes to timetables on other train operators can be found by contacting National Rail Enquiries on 03457 484950 or by visiting www.nationalrail.co.uk.

    Please note: It is regretted that dogs (except guide dogs), cycles, prams and large items of luggage cannot be conveyed on replacement road coach services.

Amended overnight / early morning services via the Vale of Glamorgan from Monday 24 to Friday 28 April

Network Rail are carrying out engineering work between Cardiff Central and Barry Island / Penarth and Bridgend via the Vale of Glamorgan.

The 21:54 Aberdare to Penarth will terminate at Cardiff Central. a replacement bus will operate from Cardiff to Penarth.

The 22:42 Bridgend to Cardiff Central diverted via Pontyclun. A replacement bus will operate from  Bridgend to Cardiff Central.

The 23:14 Radyr to Barry Island will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run from Cardiff Central to Barry Island.

The 23:26 Penarth to Cardiff Central will not run. A bus will operate from Penarth to Cardiff Central.

The 05:16 Barry Island to Caerphilly starts at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus service will run from Barry Island to Cardiff Central departing earlier at 05:00.

Monday - Thursday

The 22:52 Birmingham New Street to Holyhead service terminates at Chester. A replacement bus will run from Chester to Holyhead.

Tuesday - Friday

The 04:38 Llandudno to Crewe service will start from Chester at 05:37. Customers should travel on the 05:15 train from Llandudno Junction. There will be no bus from Llandudno and Llandudno Junction.

The 05:54 Llandudno to Llandudno Junction will be run later than normal at 06:04.

The 06:13 Llandudno Junction to Llandudno will start later than normal at 06:17.

Customers for the 02:40 ferry from Holyhead are advised to travel on earlier services to make the connection.

The 04:25 Holyhead to Cardiff Central will start at Rhyl but a replacement bus service will run from Holyhead to connect with this train service.

The 04:38 Llandudno Junction to Crewe service will start from Rhyl.

Advice for Arriva Trains Wales customers:

Services between Manchester Piccadilly / Cardiff Central and West Wales will divert between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Llantwit Major.

Services between Gloucester and Maesteg will start / terminate at Cardiff Central.

A replacement bus will between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pencoed.

On Saturday only, a reduced 2 services per hour will run between Cardiff Central and Penarth / Barry Island.

 

Advice for Great Western Railway customers:

Services will divert between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Llantwit Major, extending journey times by approximately 30 minutes.  To account for this, services may depart approximately 30 minutes early.

The 05:59 Swansea to London Paddington service will not run, and the 06:59 and 07:59 Swansea to London Paddington services are revised to start at Cardiff Central.

Engineering work is taking place between Chester and Manchester, closing some lines. The following services will be amended:

Monday to Thursday

The 21:04 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly service will be diverted via Crewe. A bus will run between Chester and Manchester.

The 23:14 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be diverted via Crewe and terminate at Warrington Bank Quay. A bus will run between Warrington Bank Quay and Chester.

Tuesday to Friday

The 00:25 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service will be retimed to run later than usual.

The 03:38 Chester to Manchester Airport service will be retimed to run earlier than usual.

Network Rail is carrying out engineering work between Bridgend and Carmarthen, closing the line.

On Saturday, the 23:47 Swansea to Fishguard Harbour service is replaced by a bus between Carmarthen and Fishguard Harbour.

On Sunday, the 01:50 Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff Central service is replaced by a bus throughout.

The 07:10 Cardiff Central to Pembroke  Dock is replaced by a bus between Cardiff Central and Carmarthen.
