Travel Advice: Wales vs France Six Nations Rugby Match Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Friday 21 February

  • Due to the late kick off (20:00) of the Wales vs France Six Nations rugby match on Friday 21 February, Arriva Trains Wales is advising those planning to travel home by train after the match that limited additional services will be available after 22:30.

Passengers are advised to head directly to Cardiff Central Station once the match finishes around 22:00.

Arriva Trains Wales will be providing extra train services and additional seating capacity where possible. However around 74,500 fans will be attending the match, so train services are expected to be extremely busy prior to and after the match.

We advise customers to check the timetable for all trains home and arrive at Cardiff Central Station well in advance of scheduled departures. The usual post-event queuing management system will be in place at Cardiff Central station after the match, allowing passengers to board their train in the most efficient and safe manner.

Cardiff Queen Street station will be closed after 21:15

The usual post-event queuing management system will be in place at Cardiff Central station after the event, allowing passengers to board their train in the most efficient and safe manner. If you are not familiar with Cardiff Central station and the queuing system, please view the queue plan below.

Station staff will be distributing queue plan to passengers during the day. If passengers are not attending the game, we would strongly recommend they travel at a different time to avoid the crowds. Every effort is made to provide as much additional capacity as possible for major events in Cardiff and all our available trains will be in use.

Ebbw Vale passengers - please note that there is a dedicated queue for passengers travelling to Rogerstone, Risca, Crosskeys, Newbridge, Llanhilleth and Ebbw Vale Parkway at the front of the station. Please do not join the Cardiff and Valley lines queue which goes via rear of the station / Penarth Road entrance as you will not be guided to the Ebbw Vale services.
